IDENTITY Once in while (most of the time), something happens to prove the wisdom of old sayings. The one I am thinking about is "Politician's are like bananas, they start of GREEN, turn YELLOW and are permanently BENT". This has been re-affirmed by the saga of Identity cards (it also confirms my long held belief that the "Protection of Civil Liberties" is a front for the Amalgamated Society of Legals and Criminal's), they are the only ones to gain from the rejection of identity cards. To the law abiding citizen it would be protection, and simplification that is drastically needed in these complicated times (how many of numbers that are associated with your name can you remember?), an old soldier can remember his number years after leaving the service where it was more important than your name. I was misled by my education into believing that government was to there enact laws that enabled the orderly running of society, if this is the intention, then our political system has failed and needs a comprehensive overhaul. The sad fact is that too much money is made from crime and those profiting from it have no intention of taking their nose out of the trough, this includes the politicians, most of which are legals or in the pay of large companies or both, so who is looking after the law-abiding public?, no one, judging from the protection given to the criminal these days, how about the protection of victim?. If someone abuses the rights of another then they should forfeit the protection of the same rights, plus 50% to make sure they get the message, yes, "an eye for an eye", forget that crap "turn the other cheek", if someone hits you, you would like to give it back, AND with compound interest.
