The Battle between the Sexes. Whilst being male must influences my opinions, however I believe that equalizing the situation is long over due because it has raised several questions in what society believes i.e. religion, and whether one believes or not, it is a major factor influence in everyone's lives. 1:- according the dogma of the Bible, man (Adam) came first, therefore man is more important. 2:- Man was made in the image of God, therefore God must be male etc. Rowlocks (my spelling again). If I were to start a project like this I would start with the female, she has all the gear for reproduction, the only thing missing is the genetic variation, i.e the male contribution. If the male is the important factor, it would be like trying to split the atom without a laboratory. If one accepts the above, it removes most of the credibility from religion because if God is female then the rest is on very dodgy ground, unless there is an ulterior motive for the perception that man is superior (apart from the obvious that men wish to be superior). I have puzzled over this for years without conclusion until I start looking back over millennia and then forward. The significant factor coinciding with emancipation of women is the growth of the population. Emancipation did not happen overnight, and the fact that things happened a lot slower than today, I would hazard a guess that turning point came somewhere around 1850/60, give it a couple of generations and you find the emergence of women in medicine, and politically motivated women ready for chaining them selves to railings. Do not under estimate the potential of doubling the voting population, even if it did take several years for women to know how to use it. Women in general are supposed to be the gentle sex (although my suspicions about that have been confirmed by the apparent desire to be in the armed services) their influence on Western politics has been governments jumping in 1:- every time a few hundred were starving, now we have millions on the potential starvation level. 2:- every time there is civil unrest the UN moves in under pressure from nosey governments, yet the more the population rises the more countries they will have a presence in. The police do not like getting involved with domestic's, neither should countries. Governments and the UN will have to pay more attention to the problem and less to symptom. In 1900 the world population was about 1.3 billion, in 1988 it was 5 billion, today (the end of 1999) the population is 6 billion that is 11years per billion. Is it because the emancipation of women has doubled the available brain power?, or has has it added an influence that was not available from the male sector?, or was there a genetic adjustment in 19th century? if there was, why? is the experiment over? are we now being left to burn out? or can this rate of population increase/scientific expansion continue? if so, for how long? Religion has been with us for thousands of years, Christianity, Moslems etc about 2 thousand, so I cannot see any major factor there. Science has leapt more in a hundred years than the previous 4 thousand, in fact 10 years today equals a least a thousand years. Humans have been around for about 200,000 years, with the status quo "stable", have we been given the means to control our destiny? if we have, we are about to screw it up big time. Did the Mayan's, who had a star calendar covering millions of years, yet their human calendar ends in 2012, know something that our society is totally ignoring because it doesn't fit the current perception ?. WHY NOW?
