Who (or what) is GOD? From the millions of stars and planets, is Earth the only one with life forms? If .0001% have the potential, and .0001% have a human equivalent, that still adds up to considerable number. If humans only developed at two minutes to midnight relative to the age of the planet (we have been around for about 200,000 years), how far advanced would a society be who evolved at three minutes to midnight? That would make their time 100,1999AD relative to us. If they developed at a rate similar to us, there is a high probability they are now extinct. However, there is also a high probability that they developed a means of space travel, if they did, there is another high probability that their scientists were as interfering as our lot. Just supposing they arrived on Earth and found the nearest potential inhabitants to them were apes, and they decided to do an experiment with a bit of DNA manipulation. Hey Presto, we have humans, being scientists they would want to keep any eye on their experiment, so they pop back every 1,000 years or so and give the system another push, as with all experiments of this type, the nearer it gets to completion the more time is required in observing it due to it taking off on its own. Now if any of this actually happened, how would the inhabitants view their visitor/s? If the Aztec's thought the Spaniards were Gods, how would 20th century man be viewed by man at the time of Jesus? and that is only 2000 years. On the other hand, what created them? My personal puzzle is not whether there is a God, it is "what", and how so many people can believe in something that is so obviously full of holes. Is "faith" a cover for fear of the alternatives? it is certainly blind. God, according to religion, is perceived as being :- 1:-"Caring". Yet, according to the bible, he bumped of the cities of Sodam & Gomorrah, he permitted the Crusaders to kill thousands of Christian Arabs, and Hitler to kill five million of his "chosen" people and two million Gypsies, Stalin killed more people than Hitler yet he was our friend, mind you "my enemies enemy is my best friend". More people have been killed in Gods name than Stalin's, or Hitler's, yet what has he done about it?. It is also interesting that it took Hitler's killing millions of Jews, to put some back-bone into a race that had been everybody's whipping dogs for two thousand years. Was Hitler doing Gods work? It is quite possible that if five of six billion people that populate the Earth were wiped out overnight, God would be dead chuffed that there would be less chance of them destroying the planet after all his hard work. 2:- "Forgiving". Is "forgiving" mistaken for "I don't care", judging by the atrocities that have been committed without retribution? Is saying three "Hail Mary's" sufficient penance for killing, raping, attacking someone? Is the saying "God moves in mysterious ways" prove that God does not move in ways that fit the concept of God of the bible? 3:- "Was Jesus the son of God?" I was brought as Christian, yet I cannot make it add up. Our society is based on the Christian faith and it is pushed on to others, in fact, rammed down their throats in national conflicts and interference. A Christian approach is no way to tackle the likes of Saddam Hussein or Gaddaffi, Kosovo or East Timor, leave them alone or "do unto others as they would do unto you", ONLY DO IT FIRST. Turning the other cheek gets you two sore cheeks or dead. It is also interesting that for all the Christian approach, it invariable finishes up with "BIG STICK" and I am damned if I can remember where that is in the Christian faith, I know where it is in the Natural Law. If our "leaders" had to lead the fight from the front (like they use to), they would be less likely to poke their nose in. Why is it that our "leaders" our quite prepared to use the "big stick" with countries that do not conform to their idea of behavior, yet do not consider it correct to use it on killers etc, and that it is OK to turn them loose on the public who have kept them at great expense for two or three years. 4:- "Love thy neighour" is going too far, I'll not bother him if he doesn't bother me. If someone pitched a tent in my garden, I would rapidly get the hump, and would not wait for an eviction order from the court either. I don't care about his color, religion or how long his hair is, but it gets up my nose when they come into my space/country and expect to be kept, and for us/me to change my way of life to what they ran away from, and any do-gooder that thinks different can do it out of their pocket/tax not mine. I have no complaint about a country that has been taken over by a load of foreigners (including the British), kicking the intruders arse . The sooner British get out of Ireland the better, it will not make much difference to the fighting, they been fighting each other for a thousand years, and they have always got religion, but it will get rid of one excuse for doing what they want to do anyway. Any body who thinks they have a right to march and wave flags though an opposition camp has to be Irish, looking for a fight, stupid not to expect retaliation, or all three.
